Today in Demoralization

Yes, heaven forfend that the head of a Consumer Finanical Protection Bureau be someone who is genuinely interested in protecting consumers.

This hasn't been a good week. Hill, White House, and especially USDA staffers need to dig their West Wing DVDs out of the storage closet.

Of course, part of the problem is that later on in the series, Ron Silver (gains some weight) and sells out to run Hawkeye's republican campaign thereby putting this whole scene in a different light. Heh.

That's true. But of course late '90s-mid00s John McCain ... er ... Arnie Vinick is cast as socially moderate. So a lot of his rant against right-wingers doesn't apply. Oh well.

Well, that's true. Owen Brewster is probably someone that Bruno Gianelli wouldn't sign onto work for.

Perhaps more ironically, real life Ron Silver later went around doing exactly what Bruno Gianelli decried: calling liberals soft on terror, soft on defense, etc.
